Jory has published two books. My Bittersweet Homecoming (2015), an intimate examination of the near-death and recent rebirth of Jory’s home town, blue collar Allentown PA. Jory left the city as a teenager, and returned over forty years later on a chance visit and discovered his boyhood home was virtually unrecognizable. Part memoir, part history, My Bittersweet Homecoming explores what happened and why.
2018 saw the publication of Death of the Dinosaur, an award winning retrospective about Wall Street. In October, 2018 Death of the Dinosaur was honored as a first place winner in the Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Literary Awards competition. The dinosaur is a metaphor for the cold-calling, Wall Street stockbroker who flourished in the 1970s and 80s. While he may be on his way out, and today’s investors have benefitted immeasurably from improved technology, lower transaction costs, and stiffer regulation, the fact is most people just don’t trust Wall Street. Can Wall Street get its mojo back? Jory shows us what went wrong and what must be done to reestablish trust with everyday investors.
